Cloth Diaper Stash

I've been wanting to post for awhile about my cloth diaper stash but I lost the pictures I took once and among other excuses I just never got around to it.

I decided to start cloth diapering Charlie when he was around 3 months old. There is a girl in my breastfeeding support group who cloth diapers and also one of my coworkers does. They both use exclusively bumgenius. One of the main reasons I wanted to switch was because I was s sick of the poop explosions from the disposables. I was also getting tired of buying new diapers and searching for sales. When I started researching them I started to get really excited about it and I'm now officially obsessed with cloth diapers.

I started out with a trial package from Jillian's Drawers. Well, I liked them all so I kept them all. I have mostly BumGenius diapers, but I use prefolds a lot around the house.

I have 13 BumGenius one size pockets (one is not pictured) and 1 BumGenius organic All-in-one

I have 3 Smartipants, 1 FuzziBunz pocket size medium, 1 Grobaby shell and soaker, and 3 one size Haute Pockets (that I won)

I have an medium Imse Vimse Organic Cotton Cover, a medium prorap classic cover, 2 small Thirsties V2.0 Covers, 2 small Thirsties Fitteds, 1 small thirsties AIO, and 2 swim diapers

I have 8 Premium Chinese Prefolds

I have a dozen Infant Chinese Prefolds

I have 4 Medium gDiapers that I don't use very often but when I do I use them with the infant prefolds as inserts

I have 1 planetwise wetbag and 1 Wahmies wetbag

I think the Pail liner I have is a Wahmies also. I haven't started using cloth wipes yet, but I hope to start soon. Right now I have a dry pail for the dirty diapers and a smaller pail for trash (wipes and liners.)

I keep all the pockets and AIOs, and the extra inserts in the top drawer of the changing table/dresser. I keep the prefolds and covers in an old diaper box on the end table next to the changing table.

I also have a Insert package from Jillian's drawers that I use with night time diapers (I mostly use BumGenius for night time)

I have enough diapers to last me a few days but I usually wash them every 2-3 days because I don't like them staying dirty for too long.

I think I'll try to do a separate post on my diaper wash routine.

I always enjoy looking at other people's cloth diaper stashes and how they organize them.

I want to read the post about how you wash them! I think they are adorable and earth friendly, but I just cannot get past the ick factor. Well at this age it's not really gross. But, once they get older and graduate to big people poop, it is haha. We need a Charlie pic in his cute dipe too :)

Do you have to change him at all overnight? Does he sleep through the night? Elliot typically wakes once around 1am to nurse and again at 5am. And I always have to change him at 5am so he doesn't leak through. He's too small still for huggies overnights, which I swear by. And he used to sleep all night till 5am. That stopped about a month ago and it's getting old.... but I digress.

I use a bum genius diaper stuffed with a Hemp insert at night and they are really absorbant. I use a bigger rise setting on the diapers at night because of the extra bulk. Occasionally we still have a leak but I think it's because I sometimes don't get the diaper tight enough around the legs. But usually they last 12 hours and Chris even forgot to put him in a "nighttime" diaper one time - he was just wearing a bumgenius with the regular insert and had no leaks. Charlie sleeps from between 730-830 and wakes up around 5-6 to eat then goes back to sleep until about 8. I don't change him through the night and if he wakes up earlier than 3 he usually goes back to sleep on his own. (hopefully i'm not jinxing myself :) )

That's great! I hope ELliot goes back to sleeping like that again soon. He just got his first couple of teeth and I thought he'd be back to normal....no such luck.

I keep meaning to write a post about my diaper stash as well and yet I keep not getting around to it. I love your stash. Bum Genius are definitely among my favorites.
